ChatGPT models - How and when to use each model

Our CEO, Tim Cakir, kicked off the LinkedIn Live the promise to make sense of the OpenAI ChatGPT naming soup.
He started with GPT-4o, calling it the 70% solution for everyday business tasks. From summarizing calls to writing emails and meeting notes, it’s the go-to for most content needs. But, as Tim reminded us: don’t stay on default - there’s more power under the hood.
Next up: GPT-4.1. Think of it as the developer’s best friend - a reliable workhorse for generating, refactoring, and working with frameworks like React, now with the bonus of a million-token memory. The Mini variant? Perfect for blazing-fast automations and task shortcuts.
When it came to creative tone, Tim put GPT-4.5 to the test - rewriting the same LinkedIn post through 4.0 and 4.5. The result? A smoother, more conversational flow that’s ideal for brand voice or customer-facing copy.
Then came the reasoning powerhouses:
o4-mini: built for fast technical logic
o4-mini-high: deeper analytical thinking
Followed by o3 and o3-Pro. They excel at multi-step reasoning, visual interpretation, and “genius-level” insights - ideal when quality is more important than speed.
To show how it all fits together, Tim built a landing page live:
o3 for structure
GPT-4o for drafting
GPT-4.5 for refining tone
Throughout, he shared his top principle: watch the reasoning, edit the prompts, and compare outputs - because that’s how you actually get smarter with AI.
🎯 The big takeaway? A clear, no-fluff decision framework for using the right model at the right moment - plus real excitement for what’s next in the GPT-5 era.
